This piece is also another example of the effectiveness of simplicity. At the time, I had just started experimenting with using only text to design album artwork(s), and this particular piece seemed to work out well.
I chose to use a combination of only two font types in an attempt to maintain a sort of “textual balance.” I also tried to limit the number of colors used in this piece. The large “G” was originally written in white font, but it made the piece look rather bland, resulting in the change to grey.
This is also another one of my favorite pieces, so I was disappointed when I found out that the official album artwork for “Last Chance” was already on iTunes because I was looking forward to using this piece as the album artwork in my iTunes library.

I was initially rather apprehensive to put this particular piece up (for obvious reasons), but I decided to do so anyways.
There are quite a number of flaws in this piece, one of which is the clutter caused by the dupolication of pictures in the background. Another flaw is the choice of text color. The font type was a relatively good choice, but the color takes away from the font type since the text is barely visible.
One thing I must point out is the fact that the artist names aren’t featured on the album artwork. The reasoning behind this choice is that the artists who perform on the track are all featured on the background image and, as such, needed no further introduction. I just thought I should clarify that it wasn’t a flaw.
Overall, I wasn’t very impressed with the outcome of this piece, but I thought it might still be a good idea to post this piece as it might help show the steady progression in my designs.
Kid Cudi – I Poke Her Face (Feat. Common, Kanye West & A-Trak)
P.S. – I worked on this piece before the song name was officially changed to “Make Her Say” as Kid Cudi’s second single.

The video for “Every Girl” is filled with colorful pop-up words so I decided to carry that playful theme over to the album artwork. I tried not to use too many colors in this piece because I felt like doing so would make it very chaotic. The “Lil Wayne” and “Every Girl” text really brings out the whole playfulness theme, but I also tried not to use the same text througout the entire piece.
You’ll notice that I didn’t use Young Money as the artist name because when I worked on this piece I was under the impression that the song was a Lil Wayne song. Either way it doesn’t matter because the album artwork shows all the other artists featured on the song.
This is probably one of my favorite pieces to date, in my opinion. I think it might also be one of my best, but I might be wrong (I hope)… you be the judge.

I decided to go without an actual image in the background for this one. Although the effectiveness of my choice of an all black background remains in question, I still think it helped achieve the simplicity I was looking for.
It took a relatively short time to complete this piece because I already had it in mind to use a combination of white fonts, and it seems to have come out well. The star on the “Mario” adds a nice touch and I refrain from sharing how exactly that came about.
The actual artwork for the song isn’t exactly that different from the one I made so I feel satisfied with the outcome of the piece above. Click here to see the official artwork for the song.

This is probably one of the first album artworks I came up with. My main focus on this piece was color choice because, without any text, the original image had a lot going on and it was important that I picked colors that didn’t distort the original image.
As you can see, my color choices were pink and yellow, both of which, in my opinion, aren’t necessarily orthodox colors for a hip-hop/rap song. The song is rather playful, hence the font choice for “sensibility”. The arrows and unevenness of the letters gave a simple yet workable touch so I went with it.
This particular piece has a lot of flaws, but I thought I should still post it anyways. Thoughts or comments?
Mickey Factz – Sensibility
P.S. – I just got done working on the album artwork for a new Mickey Factz song “Do My Do” featuring Kid Cudi. Hopefully you’ll notice some improvements when I post it somewhere down the line.
